The Wine:

A dry Vignoles by the grape’s original name, this full-bodied wine offers generous citrus and pineapple fruit character.  The label features the work of the renowned landscape artist (and Warren County native) Billyo O’Donnell.  Awarded a SILVER MEDAL at the 2015 Indy International Wine Competition.  [0.1% residual sugar]

The Grape:

Vignoles (pronounced veen-YOLE) produces moderate-sized, compact clusters, and in Missouri it is typically picked near the end of August or early September.  This grape produces a wine that has a luscious floral aroma and fruity flavors of pineapple, pears, and apricot.

Ravat 51 is the original name of the Vignoles grape. It was bred in France around 1930 by J.F. Ravat, and was brought to the U.S. in 1949. As of 2011, it was the second most widely planted wine grape in Missouri.

Blumenhof began growing Vignoles in 1983 at our main vineyard in Treloar, Missouri.  In 1987 we planted an additional acre in Dutzow (the vines closest to the winery).  We currently have 4 acres of Vignoles planted in our vineyards.
